Tuttosport: Milan re-enter race for Motta despite pressure from Juventus

By Oliver Fisher -

Tonight’s game between Juventus and AC Milan is not the only battle that is currently going on between the two clubs, because both are interested in hiring Thiago Motta.

According to what is being reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Motta is being fought over by Juventus and Milan. Both clubs are convinced by him and are going all-in to get the Bologna head coach.

With his contract with the Bologna club expiring, the former PSG and Barcelona midfielder has not yet said anything about his future, despite the rumours which – the paper states – suggest he has a verbal agreement with Juve.

Juventus-Milan will take place at the Allianz Stadium at 18:00 CEST and Motta will almost certainly be watching, because will want to know before anyone else what awaits him, with the Champions League weighing heavily on the balance of his personal choices.

Bologna is certainly a great challenge and it would be useful to gain experience if he were to remain and coach in the top European competition with them next season.

On the other hand the Old Lady are pushing to land him, corresponding to the high ambitions of the Italian-Brazilian coach, while Milan are trying to recover ground because he is considered a great replacement for Stefano Pioli.

      1. Remember it!
        Write it down!

        IDGAF!
He’ll be treated just like any other coach.
This is a results driven business.

        1. Money driven business*

Pioli has not been able to turn donkeys into unicorns, he has to leave. We have to make capital gain from our bargain recruits, don’t lose sight of our philosophy my man.

  1. Pioli is second in league, Motta is fourth. So Pioli is better.

It is different with Juve. Even when Allegri is better position on third, He have massive salary.

    1. 4th with a far lesser team. And while they don’t play in Europe yet, they also don’t have the depth that we do.

      Motta is a better coach.

  2. For The Love of God! At least make it look like you fought to get Motta to Milan. Then you can go to Curva and say, hey, we tried…

When you put Motta next to Lopetegui, everyone will pick Motta every single day of the week!

I don’t wan’t to discard Lopetegui – maybe he’ll work well at Milan. This isn’t the EPL. And maybe he’s a great coach. But it doesn’t sit well, because there’s a BETTER option available STILL.

So I pray we try for Motta. Dear Lord in Heaven…
