Tuttosport: Pioli keeps left side unchanged after recent combinations

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is expected to make a number of changes for tonight’s game against Monza but he will leave the left flank as it has been for weeks, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) has a section headlined: ‘Leao+Theo: Milan fly to the flank ‘ in which they praise French full-back and the Portuguese winger who are doing great things and showing their chemistry.

Their understanding is almost symbiotic as evidenced by yet another goal that came after brilliant build-up play down the left side against Rennes in the Europa League, with Leao thundering home Theo’s cut-back after he found him initially with a backheel.

It was a case of the left-back returning the favour as well, given that Leao had set him up in the previous game against Napoli on Sunday night with a beautiful through ball that he finished past the onrushing Gollini.

This evening against Monza, Pioli will make a few changes compared to Thursday night’s match but the left wing is almost certain to be kept as it is, which means with Theo and Leao once again being starters.

What that means in view of the return leg in France on Thursday night remains to be seen, but Pioli thinks he can’t do without them both tonight.
