CM: Juventus’ plan to beat Milan to Motta-Zirkzee double swoop

By Ben Dixon -

The signing of a new striker has been evaluated for several months, and AC Milan have their preferences. However, they risk losing their favourite to another Serie A rival, who are stepping up their chase for Joshua Zirkzee.

It is impossible to call who the next Milan No.9 will be. Several names have floated around about being entrusted to don the famous number, but none have been elected yet.

From Viktor Gyokeres to Serhou Guirassy to Benjamin Sesko, there have been multiple options that have been the option. Nevertheless, there have been none that have been given that title more than Zirkzee has.

The Dutchman has been considered heavily for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, he offers a heavily intriguing profile that can be explored by the new head coach, a technically gifted player, who has all the marks of a goalscorer. Perhaps the ideal candidate?

However, as Calciomercato.com reports, there is a growing chance that a club other than the Diavolo will land him. Zirkzee’s price has risen to €50 million, which is not off-putting for the Rossoneri, but other clubs are aware of his quality and could maybe offer more than the asking price.

Arsenal are interested in the Dutchman, as are Inter. Nevertheless, Juventus could be the club that hold the cards in the race for Zirkzee’s signature.

Whilst they are not confirmed to be playing in the Champions League, their chances are growing, and they could sell players like Matias Soule and Samuel Iling-Junior to fund the move for Zirkzee – they aim to reach €60m to tempt Bologna. Given they also have a strong candidacy in the race for Thiago Motta, it is another exceptional card they may have to play, and perhaps, it could be the decider in the futures of the manager and the player.

  1. Juve is going to get both Motta and Zirkzee. I hope plan b is being evaluated very we’ll because thats going to be the reality.

  2. Fake news. Juventus will need to pay Allegri and his staff 15m to fire him. They also owe CR7 9m for back pay during Covid lockdown.

My bet is that Allegri will see out his contract next season at Juventus especially if they win the Coppa Italia trophy.

That would mean that out of the top 3 teams Milan would be the ONLY club to not win a trophy this season.

Motta will arrive at Milan. Cardinale will not pay the 12m to release De Zerbi and Brighton will not offer any discounts either for Milan to land him.

    1. Also there is the small problem of Vlahovic. Zirkzee to Juventus will probably only happen if Vlahovic is moved first, but I’m not sure if anyone will pay what Juventus will demand for him. Yet, in a further twist, Vlahovic will have 2 years left on contract this summer, making it precisely the “renew or sell” moment, so there could be some leverage for interested clubs.

  3. Well, we need to either close our targets before other teams swoop, or get comfortable competing with them for the same players.

We lost Thuram, N’dicka, etc last year, and Botman the year before that… I understand that if you get in an auction mode you might end up overpaying, but the alternative is that we’ll never get to pick our first targets and be forced to choose from the leftovers…

  4. The management need to either close our targets before other teams swoop, or get comfortable competing with them for the same players.

  5. looks like sometimes this site purges comment if you write Ndi cka… that’s not a curse word, even though it has d! ck in there 😀

Jokes aside, this site sometimes is too much hassle to write a comment… At times I get ‘you’re writing too quickly, slow down’ on first comment, at times it purges comment without an explanation of what’s going on…
I’m going to start looking for other venues to discuss Milan…

    1. ‘I’m going to start looking for other venues to discuss Milan…’ 💯 also add to that they delete comments if not in line of their thinking (also can’t use quotation marks )

    2. Straight up (btw this is my third attempt at the very thing you talked about.. del.ete without knowing why)

  6. Now you understand why Milan were pursuing the cheapest option available, Lopetegui

He was selected not because of his winning history nor for his tactics. He was selected because he’s cheap, affordable and OBEDIANT. He understand the goal is PROFIT, not winning.

After all, with MONEYBALL MONCADA & Cardinale, Milan is now a selling team – all for a buck! Milan’s history be damned!

  7. It would be borderline criminal to allow Juve to get both Motta and Zee this summer…

Juve will do a reboot this summer, not sure how that’s appealing to anyone.

    1. Dunno. Somehow these two have transformed themselves to Pep and Messi in everyone’s eyes. I think if mgmt wants them then they should go for them, for sure. But both are just likely (or even more likely) to flop then to succeed when they take their next step to a big club.
