CM: €35m ‘vanishes’ as Tare’s summer plan fails to take off – the reasoning

This summer, AC Milan had planned to sell a few of their out-of-favour players. However, it has proven difficult so far.

Selling players is completely different to the idea of it, in most cases. Milan had probably imagined that Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders would leave; however, they were hoping that players like Yacine Adli and Ismael Bennacer would join them.

Of course, there is a large difference between the two, and with that, there can be big adjustments required to budgets. If you had plans to sell to reach a certain value, it can quickly change those plans.

Almost €100m to make

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Rossoneri, currently, are left feeling like they have lost money this summer, with the sales of Adli, Bennacer and others not going through. In fact, so far, €35 million has been lost.

The Algerian midfielder had an exit lined up for a €20m departure, but he ‘resoundingly’ rejected that idea. Then, there was the €15m offer for Adli, which was also refused, due to the will of the player.

Perhaps, failed moves for people like Yunus Musah and Samuel Chukwuze can also be added to this mix, and very quickly, you get almost €100m worth of sales.

For this reason, the report states that Igli Tare’s summer has not yet taken off. On the inbound front, there have been successes, but the outgoing front has done little so far. Some clarity and movement are needed, indeed.

  1. When Milan wants to buy any player. That players price rises automatically, when milan wants to sell players prices dropped.

    1. When Milan wants to buy a player, it’s usually because they’re doing well for whichever team (yes, there are exceptions).

If Milan wants to sell a player, it’s usually because they aren’t and are on a big salary.

    2. Let’s ignore the fact that Adli’s contract runs out in 2026. Who would pay 15M for a player currently worth 11M, per Transfermarkt, who’s contract runs out in less that 12 months? No one. If they want to move him they have to price him at 5M max. Of course, this is the only management (and fanbase) in football that expects other clubs to sell them their best players at 50% off and buy the deadwood with one year left on contract for a 50% premium. Insane.

      1. Dunno you cant or wont read before comment, here i give you the point from this articles, there is offer for both Benny and Adli but they refuse

        1. Over priced offers from leagues that many players don’t want to go to. Saudi Arabia & Russia in these cases.
You can’t blame players of their ages if they don’t want to make such a move. Particularly moving to Russia where they will be ostracised from European club football.

  2. I don’t understand benacer and Adli
You’re been told that you’re out of the project
Just pack your sht and find a place where you’ll be appreciated.
Why to fck up your current team situation and to cause the fans to hate you????

    1. I understand Adli more than Bennacer… Algerian shot himself in the foot twice and is now bitter cause no one wants him in europe anymore… Origi 2.0🙃

    2. I can see why we’re mad at bennacer due to him wanting to leave last year so badly he ruined relationships with management, but adli has a love for milan and wants to fight for a place; he showed that when he was out of favor with pioli. He did leave last year on loan but still wants to fight for a place unlike bennacer.

        1. Their are players that are not wanted by their club, but then fight for a place then turn out to be really good and helpful to the team or are sole and are great at their next club leaving the club(fans) regreting their decision. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again that’s just football unfortunately.

    3. Why move somewhere you, or especially your family, don’t want to go just to allow a team that no longer wants you to get out of their contractual obligation to you?

If that team doesn’t want him that badly, it can pay up his contract and he’ll move where he likes, but it’s Milan that want to ‘sell’ his contract to someone, because his contract/registration is an asset that makes up part of the club’s value.

  3. Shame on Benacer. He deviantly left Milan last season hoping he would be bought outright. Now reality has set in and wants to visit his frustration on Milan I remember one time when he said he could one day leave Milan for Saudi .Now opportunity has surfaced and he doesn’t want to go again

    1. So maybe he changed his mind, maybe his family don’t want to go to Saudi Arabia, maybe he was just pandering to local press… either way, it’s his right not to want to go there and I do not understand why anyone would be angry at him for that.

      1. That’s on him — he messed up twice by handing in a transfer request on deadline day.

He’s burned his bridges when it comes to getting any form of sympathy from me, or from any other fan. He chose this path and now he’s facing the dildo of consequences. Serves him right.

As for Adli, I do have sympathy. He’s been a class act and not complained once tried his outmost and has not been given an honest chance. He was a monster in Fiorentina who did not want to invest in him and that is on them.

    1. When you praise the text, then post a comment, when you criticize, you cannot. You are strong 🤣🤣🤣

  4. Adli shouldn’t be sold to begin with. We’ve failed to sign jashari, or Guerra, or Frendrup, or ferguson. We dont even have a backup striker or a Right back yet

    1. Can Adli play defense like the the names we’ve been linked with? No. So he’s irrelevant. We don’t need a player like Adli. He’s been here for FOUR seasons and none of the four coaches we’ve had in that time have found a place for him. Even Pioli, who was the coach that used him the most doesn’t seem to want him at Fiorentina, otherwise they would have exercised their option.

      1. You sure about that? Maybe Ferguson, Guerra and Frendrup but Adli is better defensively than Jashari (better tackling won, percentage, clearances and interceptions+tackling) And Jashari is who we’re really after

        1. So what was the point of Ricci then? Why hasn’t Adli become a surefire starter on a squad that has clearly been missing a DM for the last three seasons? Why didn’t Fiorentina want to keep him? Also, whenever Adli did start for us he ended up having numerous moments where he was completely out of position, or totally missed a tackle, or committed a stupid foul. Come on man.

          1. I didn’t say Adli was a DM, read carefully. Just that he’s better defensively than Jashari (also offensively but that’s for another time). Fbref stats shows this..don’t shoot the messenger.. And as you pointed out the numerous times Adli messed up defensively when he played for us…..guess what,.stats-wise Jashari is much worse. So I don’t get the hype around him esp at that price.

As for Ricci, he’s not a true DM but he’s more aggressive in taking on his opponents in defensive phases (his stats actually reflect this …upper 95+ percentile in whole of Europe)..however he still lacks in actual execution of tackles as he’s bottom 5 percent of tackles, bottom 34 percent of interceptions, bottom 8 percent of blocks and bottom 17 percent in aerial.duels won in Europe top 5 league for the same position. He’s more to me a mezzala or yet another carrier. Even when he Played against us, he didn’t seem to be occupying deep spots like a DM would and he was more a cycler (get ball in midfield, carry and/or pass off.

As to why Fiorentina didn’t redeem Adli, I can’t say for sure. But he seemed to be doing well.there until got an injury Around January. Presumably la Viola didn’t want to risk European spots so they got Fagioli and Juve smartly included an obligation to buy while our deal did t have an obligation. So …if they have seemingly similar players for mid spots then why waste money on another
…plus they HAD to redeem due to the obligation and Fagioli fills homegrown quotas, I dunno 🤷‍♂️

          1. You can LOL all you want but facts are facts. Statistically Adli is better defensively than Jashari in most defensive stats per 90.last season . I’ll even bet money he’s better at goal creation than him too. Oh what’s that? A quick glance at Fbref and seems he is as well. Lemme guess you haven’t seen a single game Jashari has played (not talking YouTube highlights)

      2. He’s an old school play maker. Not a lot of teams are looking for that; can afford to have a player cover his faults. Fiorentina changed coaches with completely different tactics and build uo play it’s kinda understandable.

    2. We already have more players than we can register for Serie A and we have a lot of CMs. I’d like to see Adli get a chance but it would be dependent on two or three other midfielders leaving.

  5. Can hardly blame Tare when the players are the ones turning down the offers who are in line with what Milan wants. And its not him to bought them to begin with.

  6. i think club and player must respect each other…
if club doesnt want to keep the player, just pay the contract if no another club want to take them. And so if the player want to leave, management just make an additional reward to the player to keep him stay. I understand Milan want to make a proper payment regard the market value, but not every club just like Milan. This is business. Milan is also playing like Jashari did to the Brugge, we let player fight to his club then cancel them. We also doesnt respect another club. What a pity.

  7. Adli 3M transfer around August 20th. Bennacer 6-7M. The offer won’t be higher since other clubs aren’t stupid. Similar situation to Vlahovic. You make it public you want someone out, you lose money. Milan will accept because there are wages to pay. 35M in your dreams. Never understood throwing players out of the team before preseason instead of playing them a bit so other clubs see them and maybe gain interest. But no, let’s play kids that we sell after a year (Liberali)…

  8. Tare was just hired two months ago, and Allegri just one month back. Surely some blame should be assigned to our fearless leader Furlani for waiting so damn long as usual. How is Tare supposed to buy and sell players when he doesn’t know the coach, formation, tactics etc.
