90min: Milan boosted in centre-back pursuit as Arsenal open to loan idea

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon open talks with Arsenal over the possibility of signing defender Jakub Kiwior in January and their pursuit has been boosted, a report claims.

Kiwior signed for Arsenal from Spezia during the 2023 January transfer window but the 23-year-old has not established himself as a starter in his first 11 months at the Emirates Stadium, given he has made just five starts across all competitions this season.

According to 90min, Arsenal are ‘open to granting him a loan move away’ which has alerted a number of different clubs, but above all Milan who are ready to begin talks to sign him given their previous interest and their defensive crisis.

A loan with option to buy is preferable but they would also be happy to make it an obligation to buy ‘if it is necessary to get a deal over the line’. The recent muscle injury suffered by Malick Thiaw has intensified the need to sign a defender, given how short of options they are.

While the Gunners are warming to the idea of letting Kiwior depart on loan, they may have to sign another defender in January in order to offset the loss of the Poland international numerically.
