AC Milan’s talent scouts have set their sights on Benfica academy winger Diego Moreira and are monitoring his development, according to a report.
Benfica’s academy is world renowned for producing talent that their U19s side are in the Youth League finalist against Red Bull Salzburg, after having demolished Sporting CP in the quarter-finals (4-0 in Alcochete) and having beaten Juve on penalties in the semi-final.
Calciomercato.com write how Moreira is part of an attacking trident involving Luis Semedo and Pedro Santos who are also two big talents. Moreira arrived in Benfica only a year and a half ago after a battle with Standard Liege, who failed to convince him to sign his first professional contract with them..
His father is a former Guinea-Bissau winger who was at Standard Liege from 2001 to 2004 so Diego has a double passport )Belgian and Portuguese) but for now he is representing the youth teams of his home country and dreams of following the path of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.
A leap to the first team is in sight but there is still a long way to go for the 17-year-old, who has 6 goals and 3 assists in 25 appearances this season across all competitions. Rui Costa is ready to bet on him and maybe one day could assist in him ending up at Milan.
