The world of football has been hit by yet more sad news as it was announced this morning that former Italy forward Gianluca Vialli has passed away.
The former Sampdoria and Juventus striker had a long battle with pancreatic cancer and his condition had worsened over the last few weeks, and it was announced today that he passed away at the age of 58.
Vialli had a one-year battle with the disease back in 2018 which he overcame, and he was part of Roberto Mancini’s Italy set-up for the European Championships win in 2021. He left that role in December 2022 to focus on his health.
Milan have reacted to the news with a post on their social media channels, commenting the following: “We are saddened by the passing of Gianluca Vialli, a great sportsman on and off the pitch. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

He was a good threat to Milan but a friend of Milan. A gentleman from a rich family with humble origins
