Giornale: Milan consider Locatelli-style deal for midfielder as Renato Sanches alternative

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are evaluating alternatives to Renato Sanches and one of them currently plays in Serie A, according to a report.

According to Il Giornale (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri management are not letting go of the idea of signing Renato Sanches, but they have also been forced to think about who they might go for if he completes a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The latest idea that has emerged is Davide Frattesi of Sassuolo, who seemed destined for Roma, but in recent days the track has cooled down a lot because the Giallorossi believe the demands of the Neroverdi are too high.

The paper goes on to claim that the Rossoneri – who met his agent yesterday – may be interested in a paid loan with an obligation to buy. It would therefore be similar to the deal got for Manuel Locatelli, who moved to Turin on an initial two-year loan, with Juve holding an obligation to then purchase the player for €25m payable over three years plus €12.5m in bonuses (via Wiki).

  1. “It would therefore be similar to the deal got for Manuel Locatelli, who moved to Turin on an initial two-year loan, with Juve holding an obligation to then purchase the player for €25m payable over three years plus €12.5m in bonuses (via Wiki).”

Except that it’s not possible. FIFA has decided that the maximum length of a loan is one year and the new rule is already in place. So it can only be a one-year loan.

    1. I think that’s just referencing the Locatelli deal, not a potential new deal which would just be a single year loan. But like most stories it’s probably baloney anyway.
