AC Milan Primavera 6-0 Como: Chaka Traore nets first goal in rampant cup win

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan Primavera sent a statement that they mean business in the cup this year with a 6-0 first round win over Como.

They will now face a Brescia side who themselves won 6-0 against Pordenone in the next round. Giunti can be proud of the display his side showed as Roback and Robotti opened up a two-goal half-time lead before Traorè, Rossi (x2) and Bright finished the job.

There was a notable moment in the 70th minute when Traorè – who had just come on having joined from Parma in the summer – scored his first goal for the club to make it 3-0 at the time before three more goals tumbled in.

After the game, coach Giunti said: “Our early lead didn’t result in us playing the game we wanted to play. Our tempo dropped off and I didn’t like what I saw for 30/35 minutes. After making it 2-0, everything became easier, with the substitutes consolidating our control of the game.

“I’m happy because, overall, we played well. We shouldn’t treat certain opponents one way and others in another; there shouldn’t be any carelessness because we paid a dear price in Turin, where our attitude wasn’t right. I’m satisfied because we’re scoring on a regular basis.

“I hope our strikers want to get on the scoresheet in every game, something which we lacked in Liverpool. Our next opponents will be Atalanta, who have reached the Scudetto final in each of the past three league seasons. We’ll need to perform in the same way as we did against Roma and Liverpool.”

Chaka Traorè reflected on his debut goal: “I wasn’t expecting to score. Since I’ve been at AC Milan, I’ve always tried to lend a hand. Luckily, I netted my first goal today, and I’m happy that we’ve won.

“I’m delighted to be part of this team. We work every single day to improve, and, in line with the Coach’s instructions, I hope that we can make strides forward over the course of the campaign.”
