Athletic: Milan in talks over €20m deal with Spurs but Eintracht Frankfurt defender is No.1 target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in talks with Spurs for defender Japhet Tanganga but he does not seem to be their priority target, according to a report.

According to The Athletic, Tanganga is attracting interest from Milan and two clubs are in talks over a deal, with Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici even flying to Italy for face to face talks with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.

However, contrary to what other sources have reported, it seems that for now Tanganga is ‘more an opportunity than a priority’ for Milan. They are pushing for a loan with an option to buy deal for the 23-year-old, with that option to be set lower than the €20m that Spurs want.

For Milan, the extent that they push for Tanganga could well hinge on if they can sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka, who has ’emerged as a key target’ for the management. Meanwhile, Bournemouth also retain an interest in Tanganga and have made enquiries.
