GdS: Acerbi idea emerges for Milan and Inter as relationship with Lazio is beyond repair

By Oliver Fisher -

The idea of a return to AC Milan for veteran centre-back Francesco Acerbi is one of the current market rumours that just will not go away.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan could turn to Acerbi if they miss out on Sven Botman of Lille, despite the fact that the Italian is a completely different profile given that he is 34 years old and would be a low-cost deal.

After 173 appearances and 10 goals in the last four seasons, Acerbi would gladly return to the Rossoneri where he played just 10 times across four months from June 2012 to January 2013 before moving to Genoa, Chievo and then Sassuolo where his career relaunched.

The relationship between Lazio and Acerbi is over and it appears that it will not end on the best of terms with their Ultras the Curva Nord having voiced their displeasure at some of his actions including refusing to celebrate near them (though certain images suggest otherwise).

Back on December 17 after a goal against Genoa things turned sour as he did a hands behind the ears celebrations, and the after the game said: “I don’t care about criticism. The fans? There were more of them during the pandemic.”

Milan have made no contact with Lazio or with Acerbi’s agents so far and while Stefano Pioli appreciates him and his arrival would also be useful for the Champions League squad list regulations, he would be a reserve.

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are also there, a coach with whom the central has always had a great relationship, but for the Nerazzurri he would be a plan C behind Bremer and the others.

  1. hahahah. Botman to Bremer to Acerbi. Man just give Gabbia playing time. He’s better than washed Acerbi.

Every new day we go down and down with our choices. losing Romagnoli and signing this guy is going to make our team worse than last szn lol
Get that broke ass c**t out of our club. #CardinaleOut
    #RedbirdOut

    1. You forgot one step before Acerbi, Pablo Mari. I’m sure that Caldara isn’t any worse than Acerbi, and Romagnoli is a space ship for him.

  2. If he arrived for free or max 1 mil as a replacement for gabbia so he can get loaned out and further develope while getting consistent minutes at another serie a team then i would see no great issue in this transfer as he would then end up as fifth cb choice depending on other aquisitions but it deffently should only happen on the premise of a short term contract and as his current salary is 800.000 euros a year he would also come as a cheap option on that front as well.

  3. These Acerbi links, based on the way Pioli wants Milan and his defense to play, make no sense.
He might be the slowest defender in the league
He is not good in the build up from the back
He comes from playing in back 3 where he looked ok, but once Sarri came in and switched to back 4 he looked awful.
If it comes to cheap or free option, than I’ll rather keep Caldara

  4. May I just say that so far I hate everything about red bird. Can’t renew our players, can’t renew Maldini, players we were after look to get hijacked because we’re taking too long and now what was supposed to be a 100m transfer budget which isn’t even high is not cut in half to 50m…man I wish we had that oil money. We won’t finish top 4 at this rate
