Agent confirms Biglia wants to retire at Milan; no talks planned over future

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia has spoken out about his client’s situation at the club and the possibility of a new deal.

With the arrival of Ismael Bennacer from Empoli in a deal which could rise to €18million, many thought Biglia’s days as a starter for the Rossoneri were over.

In fact, a report from Calciomercato.com earlier in the month stated that Biglia’s future at Milan is coming to a close one way or another given that his contract expires at the end of the season.

The report even suggested that Milan could look to offload the former Lazio man in January to recoup even a small fee and shift his salary.

Meanwhile, Bennacer started against Brescia in the 1-0 win at San Siro before the international break, however it was the Argentine who was picked ahead of him for the recent game against Hellas Verona – a decision Marco Giampaolo explained after the game.

Now, the player’s agent – Enzo Montepaone – has lifted the lid on the relationship between Biglia and head coach Giampaolo.

“Between them there is a great relationship of mutual respect,” Montepaone told Calciomercato.com.

“Giampaolo is a humble man with clear ideas and he met a player with a great desire to win.

“Brave to pick him against Verona? Brave is perhaps too much, Lucas always works hard to play and this is rewarded.”

On a possible new deal for his client, the agent responded: “This is a choice that is up to the management.

“Biglia, with or without renewal, will always be the first to train and bring Milan back to play in the European cups. He is a loyal man with great professionalism.

“No appointment has been scheduled but next month I will be in Milan. Let’s see what happens.”

Is his priority to retire with the Rossoneri?

“Of course, 100%.”
