Agent of €25m Arsenal midfielder confirms agreement with club amid Milan links

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Granit Xhaka has confirmed that his client has an agreement with Hertha Berlin over a January move.

The Swiss international seems set to leave the Gunners two years after arriving from Monchengladbach in a deal worth €35m (as per Sky), despite new boss Mikel Arteta revealing his huge admiration for the player.

His future at the Emirates appeared to be over when he told fans to “f*** off” after being substituted against Crystal Palace back in October.

MilanNews.it reported on Tuesday that Xhaka or Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic could be brought in as potential replacements for Lucas Paqueta and Franck Kessie, with Ismael Bennacer likely to shift to mezzala.

However, speaking to Swiss outlet Blick (via MilanNews.it), his agent revealed information about his client’s next move.

“I say it with all frankness and honesty: we have an agreement with Hertha Berlin and we would like to go to Germany,” he said.

“We informed Raul Sanllehi and the sports director Edu Gaspar, and also the new coach Mikel Arteta. Arsenal has been informed of the will of the club and the player, only the economic terms of the operation remain to be defined.”

According to Blick, the deal will be worth around €25million, with Milan set to miss out on another target.
