Agent of Milan defender reveals there have been ‘positive indications’ regarding new deal

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Mateo Musacchio has revealed that his client appears to be heading towards renewing his contract with AC Milan.

Musacchio has fallen down the pecking order in recent months which has seen his playing time decrease, and the player’s agent recently gave a lengthy interview during which he expressed frustration at the Rossoneri’s treatment of his client.

Our mercato expert Vito Angele told us that Sevilla and Valencia are keen on Musacchio, with Milan valuing the 29-year-old at around €6million, with some Spanish sides interested.

Now, Musacchio’s agent Marcelo Lombilla has granted an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport seemingly suggesting that a stay is on the cards after all.

“We spoke recently with Maldini and we have drawn positive indications. That is that Mateo is esteemed by the club and also by the coach,” he said (via MilanLive).

Indeed Lombilla also addressed the rumours of interest from Spain, in particular Valencia and Real Betis.

“We would like to have a proposal for renewal, because Mateo is happy in Milano and at Milan, regardless of everything. In August we will see, of course, we also need to understand which management we will have to deal with. But the desire would be to stay.”

His contract expires in June 2021, so Milan will have to reach an agreement regarding a renewal or risk losing him for free next year.
