Intermediaries have been in touch with AC Milan to let them know that a big offer is coming from Al-Ahli for Youssouf Fofana.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Saudi Pro League side want a high-level midfielder and – after having received the rejections of Manuel Locatelli and Denis Zakaria – they are trying for Fofana.

After raking in more than €200m in sales, Milan are working to complete Massimiliano Allegri’s team. The idea is to keep the 22 players currently in the squad, but the possibility of a big bid from the Middle East is one to pay attention to.

After trying for Locatelli and Zakaria, it is Al-Ahli that are targeting the French midfielder Fofana. As a reminder, he arrived from Monaco just 12 months ago for €20m plus €5m in bonuses after a long negotiation.

According to the report, several intermediaries have contacted AC Milan, promising that Al-Ahli will make an offer for Fofana. This offer is expected to exceed €25m, matching the fee offered to Monaco for Zakaria.

However, the former Juventus man turned down their approach, preferring to remain in France to play for Monaco. Al-Ahli are the reigning Asian champions, and are looking for a midfielder to partner with Franck Kessié, the former Milan star.

  1. It would not make sense for Milan to sell him. To buy a replacement Milan would likely need more than 25 mln, especially at the end of the transfer window.

  2. Hear me out for a second, I think he should go. Of all the midfielders we have, he is the least technical. I think RLC can do exactly what he does and more. He would just be taking minutes off our new signings in midfield. But 25 million would be chump change. I would say 40 million should do the trick.

    1. Hhhh loftus cheek can do what fofana do what are you on cheek is rubbish fofana is great player but he lacks awareness

      1. My friend, if you think RLC is rubish, then you do not understand fiotball. I am afraid ee do not have AC Milan Balet section otherwise i would suggest you switch to that

        1. Rlc is more than rubbish he can play 38 games in the end no assist no goal no affect he is just useless running around in the field

  3. Hopefully they ask for 40M at least. And if Allegri wants Rabiot I’m sure he can be bought for 15M since he is out of the team and transfer listed. Also, De Zerbi already did that with Kone so it seems he has a short fuse.

  4. Why would we sell for around 25mil this late in the transfer market? First Fofana is valued at 30mil and he is not on expiring contract. Second it would seriously impact our mid. We dont know how will Jashari perform nor Loftus for that matter who is not very reliable, let alone Musah. we won’t be able to find a better mid for around 25-30mil this late. We will just weaken our mid.

    1. “Why would we sell for around 25mil this late in the transfer market? ”
      Answer: Giorgio “Cha-ching” Furlani

  5. Disaster! They’re selling off Luigi’s hero! How will we cope without our legendary can’t-shoot-a-single-shot icon???

  6. I’m not a fan of Fofana but we already let go of Bondo and neither Musah nor Loftus-Cheek can do what he does. Loftus-Cheek doesn’t have the stamina and can’t play as a DM while Musah is…Musah.
Modrić, Jashari and Ricci were brought as creative midfielders so using one of them as a destroyer will be a waste at best and probably won’t succeed.
And finally, just having Modrić, Jashari, Ricci, Loftus-Cheek and Musah for the entierty of our midfield is pretty shallow.

      1. I started a new paragraph with “Modrić, Jashari and Ricci were…”
Musah has as much creativity as a potato does.

  7. I’d want a lot more than that. I don’t see Modric being ever present and RLC is bound to get injured at some point – I would have thought there’s a lot of game time in Fofana and he, Ricci and Jashari should be the long term plan for CM.

So if he is going to leave it better be for a good payoff, 25M isn’t that for his quality IMO.

  8. I think, letting go of Can’t Shoot Fofana for 40 and buying Rabiot for 15-20 would be a good deal. We all know Fofana isn’t a natural DM, we just make him play there. For DM we already have Ricci and tbh if we have a progressor like Rabiot then we might not need double DM in Ricci and Fofana but if we do them Musah the bull plus Loftus Cheek can somewhat manage along with Ricci. But in Rabiot we will get a good passer.

  9. With zero European competition to worry about this year, why do we need to have 8 Midfielders when Allegri is likely to play a 3-5-2 for most of the season or some variation. Pulisic can play that AMF Spot behind the 2 strikers (assuming we get Vhalovic or Hojlund) which would make 8 CMs/CDMs fighting for 2 MF positions. Jashari, Ricci, Modric, and RLC should be enough for us right now and if we could sell Fofana for €40M and go get Guerra for €25M and Rabiot for €15M, I would consider that a win! You might be able to swap Bennacer for Rabiot at this point and then put that extra €15M towards signing Kwior from Arsenal or help fund your move for a striker.

You would basically improve the squad with zero investment and still have money from sales of Musah + Adli (at this point if we were to recover €30M combined that would be amazing) as well as anything you can get from Chukuweze. Assuming you finish top-4 this season, you then can build your squad depth with the following:

    GK – Maignan, Terracciano, Torriani
CB – DeWinter, Pavolovic, Gabbia, Tomori, Kwior
Wingers – Salesmakers, Estupian, Bartesaghi, Jiminez, Athekame
CM – Jashari, Ricci, RLC, Modric, Guerra, Rabiot, Pulisic
    ST – Leao, Giminez, Vhalovic/Hjolund

I think this would net them a cash positive transfer window (assuming loan with obligation for Hojlund, if it was him) and that would set them up for positive accounts to avoid any FFP sanctions for next season to go after some bigger names in the next summer window.

  10. Sell him for 30mil and reintegrate Adli, we dont need to spend for midfielders anymore. And Jimenez can replace Okafor

  11. Rabiot is a non story for me but if we were to compare Fofana and Rabiot, I’d go for latter as he is more defensive, disrupts plays better and scores more than Fofana.

      1. Why though? Fofana and RLC in this formation are both box2box players. Selling Fofana and buying Rabiot makes no sense. We would be short on box2box midfielders (RLC will definitely pick up an injury) and unreasonably stacked on holding midfielders (Jashari, Ricci, Modric, and then Rabiot). All of which are going to demand playing time. I’d only see this lead to a disruption of the current synergy.

  12. Reijnders, Pulisic and Fofana were the only three Milan players that didn’t have terrible seasons last year. Selling Reijnders was a mistake and selling Fofana will also be a mistake. This deal would only make sense if we got Rabiot, otherwise, dumb move.

  13. Fofana already reject that saudi club offer, good decision from him, world cup next year and he will lose his spot if play on saudi club
