AS: Alemany leads negotiations as Barcelona make their move for Milan defender

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli has emerged as somewhat of a surprise transfer target for Barcelona ahead of the summer, according to a report.

AS in Spain are claiming that the 27-year-old central defender could be the second free transfer to arrive from Milan after Franck Kessie as he has become a target to bolster the centre-back options available to Xavi ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Barca have apparently been monitoring Romagnoli for some time and have made their move as negotiations are open and are being carried out personally by their director Mateu Alemany. The Italian would arrive on a free and the Blaugrana management think he is the ideal partner for Ronald Araújo.

Another factor in Barca’s favour is that Romagnoli’s agent is Mino Raiola, a person who has a great relationship with the president Joan Laporta. Xavi wants another defender in addition toAndreas Christensen and César Azplicueta from Chelsea, and with Antonio Rudiger set to join Real Madrid a statement is needed.

  1. From bench to another club’ bench if this rumour true, Xavi Will starter Christensen and Araujo while Romagnoli in bench . Better Romagnoli take Lazio offer his Boyhood club’ for starter spot

  2. I can actually see Romagnoli doing well In Spain. They play so slow lol. This feels like smoke though to try and get lazio to improve their offer.
