AC Milan’s unbeaten run was snapped at 24 games as they were beaten by Parma on Sunday at San Siro in an encounter with plenty of controversy.
Milan missed a number of opportunities to take the lead, the most symbolic of which was Rafael Leao hitting the post. Then, in the closing minutes, Parma got the winning goal as Troilo headed in a corner. It was initially ruled out for a foul, yet after a VAR review it was awarded, and they won 1-0.

It means that the unbeaten streak comes to a close on 24 games, and with Inter now 10 points clear at the top, attention turns to a battle for a Champions League spot rather than the Scudetto.
Paying the price
Milan had two-thirds of the possession, more than double the Expected Goals number, double the big chances and more than double the corners. They had 25 shots to nine, with six on target to three. Yet, if you don’t find the net, you risk a smash-and-grab like what happened.
Home issues
At home, Milan have earned 25 points in 13 games, while in their 13 away matches the Rossoneri have earned 29 points. Their only two defeats this season have been at San Siro: in the league opener against Cremonese and yesterday against Parma.
The 0-1 defeat on Sunday was also the second goalless game in 26 league games for Allegri’s team. The only previous goalless encounter was almost five months ago on October 5, the 0-0 draw away against Juventus.
Pulisic and Leao were also on the pitch then, but they only played 11 minutes together: Pulisic replaced in the 74th minute by Nkunku, Leao coming on in the 63rd minute for Gimenez. Yesterday against Parma the two played 62 minutes together (without scoring), until the American was replaced by Fullkrug.
Milan hadn’t had at least 25 shots in a Serie A match without scoring since April 2022 (33 vs. Bologna) (25 vs. Parma).
Milan failed to score for the second time in this Serie A (0-0 against Juventus in October), while they have not remained without a goal in a home game in the top flight since April 2025 (0-1 against Atalanta).
Parma coincidences
Just like in 1993, it’s once again the Emilian side who have ended Milan’s unbeaten streak. Back then, it was 58 games, this time 24. The most substantial difference is that, despite Asprilla’s free-kick 23 years ago, the Diavolo still won the Scudetto. This time they almost certainly will not.
Parma have won three consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since March 2014, under Roberto Donadoni. On that occasion, the third match was against AC Milan at San Siro (4-2).

Growing up myself, the only league on tv was serie A. The milan of van basten, Guilit, Maldini and later on Sheva and Kaka.. damn i’m showing my age.
