A much-needed win: All the key stats from Milan’s win against Torino

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan got what is only their second victory of 2023 in all competitions against Torino on Friday night thanks to a header from Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman’s goal in the second half was the only one of the game and whilst it was not a vintage performance from Stefano Pioli’s side, all that they really wanted was the points.

Torino had a couple of good chances but Milan secured the 1-0 win. Here are the key stats from the game thanks to the official website

➤ AC Milan played their 3000th match in Serie A this evening: the Rossoneriare the fourth team to reach this milestone, after Inter, Roma and Juventus (W1458, D879, L663)

➤ Olivier Giroud (1986) is the oldest player to have been directly involved in more than ten goals across Europe’s top five leagues in the 2022/23 season (seven goals and four assists).

➤ Tonight saw AC Milan beat Torino for the 46th time at home in Serie A (D20 L11). Only Roma (50) have recorded more home wins against the Granata in the Italian top flight.

➤ Olivier Giroud has scored more than five goals at home in a single league season for the first time since 2015/16 (seven goals for Arsenal back then).

➤ Only Napoli (28) have scored more second-half goals than AC Milan in Serie A this season (23).

➤ In twelve of their last 15 fixtures away to AC Milan in Serie A, Torino have failed to score, including in each of the last six.
