In recent seasons, AC Milan have lost their identity a little. Multiple different systems have been trialled and this has taken away from the side.
Constant chopping and changing does not do anything for the long-term of a club. Milan have seen that in the past 12 months. Stefano Pioli, Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao, each had their own ideas for the Rossoneri, but each got lost in translation.

Now, with Massimiliano Allegri, it is very much a case of going back to basics. In turn, it is hoped that this gets the Rossoneri back to business. So far, this is already proving to be the case.
Try to stop it
Today, Gazzetta dello Sport have written that Allegri is not hiding. There are no secrets, no hidden identity. No. Milan, instead, are an open book and it is a case of stopping it, rather than facing the unknown.
‘Simple, organised football,’ an idea easier to think than play successfully, in fairness. If someone is to deliver it, though, it will be Allegri.
There are three different faces of the Diavolo, a 3-5-2 that can change into a 5-4-1 to face ‘strong, agressive’ opponents. Then, there is the 4-3-3, which aims to dominate.
In both cases, the need for stability is clear and is hoped for by Allegri. What is the theme, though, is the desire to move vertically quickly and with threat. The cards are on the table, and Milan are ready to play.

Maybe follow a different league since that doesn’t tend to happen much in Italy.
You know allegri football well
The players give the identity. Nobody else.
It’s the players we watch, and the players who play together.
They’re teammates, room mates, and ideally mates.
Half this squad don’t know each other from Adam.
The squad is at year zero.
It’ll take years to form an identity if they have years before being flipped again.
It also helps if a team that purports to be from a city in Italy had some players from Italy. It looks like Ricci will be the only starting Italian.
There’s a long way to go.
