Ruben Loftus-Cheek is certainly one of the players who can benefit from Massimiliano Allegri’s return to AC Milan, a report has claimed.
Allegri is working in synergy with the management to build the squad with precise indications regarding his idea of relaunching the team’s ambitions. Among these, Calciomercato.com report, there is the veto on the sale of the English midfielder.

Why Allegri likes RLC
The sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City has deprived Milan of a penetrating player and a box-to-box midfielder who scored 10 goals in Serie A last season.
Loftus-Cheek is the only midfielder in the squad to have such a number of goals on his stat sheet as he scored 10 times in the 2023-24 campaign, as part of an impressive first season in Italy with the Rossoneri.
In the minds of the sporting director Igli Tare and the new coach, the former Chelsea player can return to being that player again, with careful management of a physique as explosive as it is fragile. It is an interesting challenge for Milan, who are convinced of the qualities of the 29-year-old.
Loftus-Cheek is described as a sensitive player who needs to feel the trust of his coach to perform at his best. That unconditional trust that he had found without hesitation in the experience lived at Chelsea with Maurizio Sarri.
The Tuscan coach has tried – over the past few weeks – to test the waters to bring him to Lazio. An operation without any success, both due to the block on the market that the Biancoceleste club are currently experiencing and Allegri’s desire to hold on to the player.
The report from Calciomercato.com concludes with the following line: “Allegri in fact wants to relaunch Loftus-Cheek at Milan: this is the final decision.”

But to the original article. Ive always found him too inconsistent. Not saying he doesnt have the odd decent game but honestly with all the squad moves we’re doing, one more sale wouldn’t hurt. A decent bid in excess of what we paid (€20mn) and I’d let injury-prone RLC depart
Vanderson and Wesley are also great option on the right… LB is the bigger issue… hoping Jashari and MdC can come for combined 55M with resale clauses at 5-10%
Think we get priced out of Wesley (he was kinda affordable but is drawing attention from richer clubs, at the current CWC. A good game against Bayern next round and he’ll be out of our price range)
Vanderson is good but AS Monaco tough negotiators. Also dont see him coming
Dodo is only realistic because hes at a Serie A club, fiorentina should be somewhat reasonable at the negotiating table.
Also we need to offload Emerson Royale dont forget! Thats gonna be v difficult can’t believe he got injured in Jan just before we were gonna send him to Gala
Mind Calabria will also be back from his loan spell at Bologna and solution need to be found for his departure too as well as Emerson
@Cess, good point re Calabria. It will be interesting to see if he’s reintegrated by Allegri, as Conceicao is now gone. If he is, they might not sign and RB, as we have Jimenez and Saelemaekers who can both play in that position. Given other priorities and money needing spending there, and given that we’ll only compete in domestic competitions next season, if Calabria stays I can see us not getting another RB this summer. Like King22 said, LB is the bigger issue.
We don’t really need an RB. For a campaign that will see us playing in Serie A and Coppa Italia only, Jimenez and Saelemaekers can cover the position. What we need is a starting LB and a backup LB.
We’re selling Reijnders (55M done), Kalulu (14M done), Theo (30M done), Musah (25M close), Bennacer (~12M tbd), Adli (~10M tbd), and Pobega (~8M tbd). That can bring us ~150M +/-. We’ve spent 23M on Ricci, and will spend at least 35M on Jashari. That still leaves us with 92M. That’s enough for a good starting LB, a good STRIKER, where we have only a single proper one right now, and a decent backup LB.
We also have to keep squad turnover to minimum. We can’t just let 12 players go and bring in 12 new players.
I just don’t think RLC plays more than 20 games.
I don’t think he’s “worthless” like some on here do. When fully fit he can be useful.
He’s just so unreliable with his fitness.
yes, glad to see sensible comments. It’s easy to see why coaches “like him”. On paper, he is big, strong, kinda fast, can pass, dribbles well, can help defensively, can score. On paper he is great. In reality, when he is fit, he is pretty good (not amazing but good). Problem is, he is never fit. He is either injured, or coming back from an injury and not very helpful. You could be the next Pele/Maradona/Cryuff combination, but if you cant stay fit. You contribute nothing.
He got lucky 2 seasons in his career, 10 goals per season, 20 in those 2 years. In all other career seasons he has a total of 9 goals. 9. Including his youth career. 29 in total. Calabria has 15. Tomori has 18. RLC 29. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
If we play 433 and he can stay fit (or ever fit-ter), sure why not. He sure as s**t isn’t a 10 so we’ve never really seen the best of him.
But…
Assuming we are signing someone new, that’s three new midfielders plus RLC and Bondo – even with 3 in the middle we don’t need six midfielders for one game a week, and I’d probably rather keep Bondo.
Right now we have several midfielder coming back from loans, Pobega, Adli and Benacer. I don’t think management will buy more midfielder before we sell at least 3 players.
