Throughout this season, Massimiliano Allegri has stated that AC Milan’s only aim was to reach the Champions League. However, they failed to qualify.
It has been a season of Champions League ambitions, rather than hopes for the Scudetto, even when it was a feasible goal. Now, the egg is on the face of Milan. Yesterday’s loss meant they will play in the Europa League next season and questions are being asked of everyone.

Considering the recent run, it is not even a surprise that the Rossoneri couldn’t get over the line. They started the season as they finished it, with a loss at San Siro against a side who shouldn’t have won (with the utmost respect).
Of course, the contexts were different. Yet, in both cases, the Diavolo just rolled over for their opposition and let them get the advantage.
Allegri on his way?
As a result of the defeat, questions are being asked of the management and the manager. Indeed, MilanNews writes that Allegri is under fire internally and could face the sack for his failure to get the club back into the Champions League.
Recently, he has appeared the most likely candidate to stay this summer. However, this changes everything and in the next few days, if not the next few weeks, changes cannot be ruled out.
Another reset could well be on the cards.

Iraola is leaving Bournemouth after almost qualifying them for the champions league despite seing his best players sold after each season and with a budget that is a fraction of the top clubs in England.
Modern coach who plays direct football and with extremely high pressure. The opposite of Allegri.
Just saying….
Everyone is calling for Iraola but his football derives from a hard one on one press football and fast attacking transition in dynamic fast paced EPL. The real question, how doable is this in Serie A with low block teams?
More doable than sticking to Allegri. 🙂
That’s not the point but I agree it cannot be worse. Anyway, they really need to think this through. First we need a proper SD, someone progressive enough for the modern game and then everyone else. This will be again time consuming. And time is not our luxury here.
Nope. The need a new coach first. Then the SD. The SD can’t start working on building the team if he doesn’t know what kind of players the coach needs.
How doable? Look at Como and Gasp’s Atalanta.
Roma didn’t splash out much cash either to finish 3rd.
He had one job. He failed. The football was absolutely disgusting – if you can even call it football – and the results weren’t there. He needs to go. Period.
Did Cremonese, Udinese & Cagliari have better players? Nope. That says everything people need to know. It’s time to sack the dinosaur.
Last night after the match he said he cannot blame the lads as they gave their everything.
If this is everything for you then you have no place in this club anymore.
How can it be in doubt? How can there be any doubt after what we’ve seen? This was one of the most disgraceful moments I’ve seen in 30 years as a fan.
Ok, the owner is an idiot, the management in incompetent, you didn’t get the players you wanted and so on, but how can you lose to Cagliari in a match like this? How can you lose 3 out of the last 4 games, 6 out of the last 10?
What more can you possibly expect from a manager with this record?
They should all go, but Allegri should be the first on the list.
“How can you lose 3 out of the last 4 games, 6 out of the last 10?”
Look how Allegri did his last 15 matches as the Juve coach. There is a pattern and it’s not a nice one.
Last 17 games, actually. 3-10-4 and only 19 points out of 51…
Ok we need Italian players and also 25 at least in the squad.
So Allegri on bench with:
Gk: Maignan Terracciano and Torriani
Defenders: This is discutable because of players sales. Let’s imagine Tomori is sold. And also Estupinan for practical reasons.
Gabbia Bartesaghi New Defender Pavlovic Athekame De Winter New Defender
We need also 2 new wingback on both positions, one could be Italian because of rules.
Midfield: Unfortunately here we suffer most.
But if we sale Ruben Loftus and Fofana, now everything depends about Modric, and if Goretzka arriving…
But Rabiot is here and Jashari and Ricci as back up. 2 New solid Midfielders are necessary with some Italian youngsters for rule squad number.
And in attack we mast do everything to save Leao and Pulisic. Gimenez can be Loaned out.
And Nkunku… Nkunku nkunku…. Nokunku….
2 New central forwards must arrive.
Estupinan for every reason imaginable.
I stopped reading at “Allegri on bench”. FFS. HE was the reason why we don’t play UCL next season.
Allegri killed Juve and now Milan!
These so called experts sold the Allegri to take charge of Milan where are they now?
De Zerbi was there and no one approached him.
Yes management is to blame and yes Furlani, Tare and the rest should go 2 years ago!
Maldini knew exactly what was needed and they got rid of him. Bring him back before Milan end up on the crap pile again next season! This season was total crap!
💯
I do remember all the Allegri-fanbois praising him for “bringing the results” when I was touting we’d drop out of TOP4 after the horrible display against Lazio, Udinese & Napoli. Yeah. Allegri guarantees “results”. Happy??? 😀 😀 😀
Are you serious about leao? The guys a lazy donkey who strops when he loses the ball doesn’t track back to help and has one trick in his bag that usually doesn’t work …….Gimenez been injured for most of the season but you can see he’s a grafter so keep him and a pre season will do him good
The top problem is Cardinale and we aren’t getting rid of that sh*t that easily. If he had any clue what he’s doing, after the Scudetto win he wouldn’t return the club to the state 10 years ago . So, whoever is sacked and whoever they bring in I won’t be happy until this re*ard is out of the club. We had the people that cared about the club and wanted to move it even higher, back to playing CL later stages every season, but Gerry and Furlani knew better. Well they obviously don’t.
Wait until Uberm0r0n sees this blasphemy against Gerry and The RedTurds.
ubermo*on 1 and ubermo*on 2 (scott taylor), losers john the baptist is a saint compared to these f***s…
Scott Taylor isn’t a person, it is a bot.
That bot responded me with the same insult I sent him so I’m not 100% sure whether he/it’s a human person or not.
It isn’t. It’s a bot. 100% non human written. I don’t even read what it says anymore.
You already know what he’ll say. He is the one dimensional, like being paid by the Redbird G. “Gerry isn’t to blame, he hired the management and it is their fault”. When your company fails you, of course, blame the employees, not the person that hired them. 😀
* When your company fails, you,
Missed a comma
This team is cursed in as much Allegri remain in charge
What’s the doubt?? He should have gone in pre season after that football
How can it be in doubt. Allegri managed to do something that I would have never though I would be capable of: supporting against my team hoping that without top 4 he would be sacked.
It was terrible football the all season in BOTH phases. The defense phase is worst than the attacking phase, it is so passive that it looks 90s football. Cagliari was able build up from the back clean and smooth, looked like we were playing PSG. The results of the first part of the season were only due some extraordinary individual performances (Maignan, Modric, Rabiot, Pulisic).
We are talking about a coach that played Fofana as his most advanced midfield, often putting him in scoring or last pass positions. A complete nonsense that we had to watch for 30+ games. Incompetence. That’s it.
Don’t tell me about the league titles with Juventus. He was in a context of clear superiority vs. all the other teams, when Juventus was buying the best player of the 2nd ranked team (Pjanic, Higuain).
💯
I share your thoughts. As much as I hated how the match looked like yesterday and how we dropped out of TOP4 I still felt relief that we might not have to live this same 💩 through again next season and the one after that. Allegri needs to go. Actually, he should have resigned already after the match but he’s too slow to realize that.
It’s always like this, once again we’ll wait for days for the news even in a situation such as this one when an immediate and swift reaction is totally and deservedly expected. Nobody does anything and they all act as if nothing (bad) happened, how did we come to that kind of running the club, hey? Instead of Allegri himself being honest and resign immediatelly after the game (it was the least he could do) or instead of this horrible management sacking him, it looks as if they will take some more time for what exactly?! Cremonese, Pisa, Sassuolo, Genoa, Como, Parma, Udinese, Atalanta, Cagliari-
23 points lost at home, come on!
Allegri already had a meeting with napoli representatives. Hope this dinosaur leaves. And I hope these bankers and big nose get out as soon as possible too.
He should go and ruin Napoli next. He did that to Juve and us already so… GTFO already!
Well frankly speaking, Allegri only went to Milan because Conte decided to stay at Napoli last season. So it’s only logical to assume that he’ll be the number one choice of Napoli (once again) if we terminated him.
Hoping Conte goes to us if that happens.
Actually, Napoli was his first choice, I’m not sure ADL wanted Allegri more than he wanted Conte to stay…
Of course he wanted Conte to stay. Who wouldnt want the coach who season earlier won the scudetto? Allegri was only a backup in case Conte left.
Yep, that’s right.
I find it hard to believe some guys here forget why allegri was fired in his first stint at Milan and also his second stint at juve. History will repeat itself when they pay attention.
Allegri as a coach didnt evolve or add to his ideas. Not his fault, managed KNEW who they signed. Or maybe they didn’t. It’s not always about the CV, or else Arrigo Sacchi would never have come to Milan.
On a lighter note, how does a new coach fire his CEO in football manager? Lol
Sack him as soon as possible, bad and outdated playing sistem. Milan play so bad under Allegri, even relegated team can outplay Milan Allegri
Sack him immediately. Old and stubborn man without any sense of modern football
Let him go now
Alegri and tare killed us
Bring back Maldini!
Milan is dead.
Allegri should be sacked immediately he tactics is very poor and outdated. Milan should get a modern coach with attacking mindset.
Allegri: ‘i am perfect. My style of football is slow and defensive and it is perfectly boring.”
Strategically The biggest mistake was accepting to coach a squad not built according to his ideas, followed by his strategic stubbornness in trying to “tame” these creative players into a purely defensive style of play. This produced a team without identity: neither defensively solid (conceding easy goals against Cagliari) nor decisive in attack.
Loss of Mental Control, When a team arrives at the most important match of the season and appears lifeless, disjointed, and completely resigned in the second half at the San Siro, it’s clear evidence that the coach lost his leadership and motivational skills in the dressing room long ago.
The Inevitable Result Allegri not only failed to lead Milan to the Champions League, but also caused the club assets to be “liquidated.” He ended the season with a coach who was inevitably sacked, demoralized players whose market value plummeted, and a financial disaster facing a crippling deficit.
@SempreMilan you can’t put some verification on the comments, to prove you’re human? This bot is annoying. If I wanted to read the most re*arded attempts at intelligent writing I’d go to Gemini.
Allegri sucked the soul out of this team by way of tactics, but the early results made it hard to argue against him. Even as we were getting points we were losing momentum and exposing our weaknesses. Our signings during the season were entrenching. Going forward w Allegri is the least attractive thing I can think of.
