The last few months have been complicated for Maignan. A renewal that was first promised (even agreed), then pulled from the table due to inconsistent performances, and then a subsequent clear desire to leave.

Until a few days ago, the Frenchman hoped to be going to Chelsea and playing in the Club World Cup, but now the risk is that he remains and leaves on a free transfer in June 2026.

Allegri’s card to play

As Tuttosport (via MilanPress) report this morning, Allegri is waiting for him at Milanello and he wants to ‘win him over’. To do so, the new coach will rely on Juventus’ historic goalkeeping coach Claudio Filippi.

Filippi was in charge of the goalkeeping area of the Bianconeri from 2010 to 2024 and was the youth sector goalkeepers’ co-ordinator last season. The 59-year-old will follow the coach to Milan and is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the role.

He worked with Gianluigi Buffon, but also shaped Wojciech Szczesny reach a high level. After difficult seasons even with coaches, Maignan could benefit from his arrival and return to being Magic like in the 2021-22 season when he helped the Rossoneri win the Scudetto.
