Watch: Allegri’s Leao rage and Modric’s message to Pulisic during Milan-Napoli

More footage has emerged showing how tense Massimiliano Allegri was during the closing stages of the win over Napoli.

In DAZN’s ‘BordoCam’, which captures some hidden details from the victory, Allegri can be seen pacing up and down the touchline as his side cling onto a lead with 10 men. He repeatedly screams “Rafa!” at Rafael Leao, who clearly was not doing what was asked of him.

Other small snippets included Luka Modric telling his team-mate Christian Pulisic before the game: “Enjoy, let’s play football.”

At full-time, Modric embraced Matteo Gabbia and screamed: “Now that’s playing! That’s how you play!”

Then, there was the celebration that the team were able to celebrate in front of the Curva Sud after a hard-fought win. In also marked the return of the ultras to the stadium in the best way.

  1. The first video of Allegri yelling at Leão is great. Modrić, forty-years old, was defending like crazy and Leão was jogging around . . . while it was 11 v 10. I was screaming at my computer screen!

    1. Yet, and yet people will focus on how Leao was “dragging seven defenders”. The dude is fast and can run into space, which there was plenty of because we were camped out in out box. Great. No pressing, no defense. New coach, same yelling about doing more. Six seasons of this. We have Nkunku now, and Pulisic. Two players who can obviously operate in tight spaces and can operate as foils to a no. 9. Let Leao go to whatever PL team thinks they can use a straight ahead runner and use the money to bring in a true no. 9 and also reinforce other areas. The lazy individualist era at Milan is over.

      1. Its actually 7 seasons of this.
It took most people 7 seasons to see what some saw after 7 games.
Unless a miracle happens, where Leao shows growth, humility, sacrifice, these are his last few months in a Milan jersey.
Milan playing 352, a system where there is no spot for him and Milan doing so well without him is not a good sign for Leao.
His fanboys keep repeating that Allegri said that Leao is central in his project. Just a reminder that Fonseca and Conceicao said the same thing and then after working with him for few weeks they had him sitting on the bench.
He might be reunited with Theo pretty soon.

        1. Yep. And it shows good man-management from Allegri, who wouldn’t just trash the team’s highest paid player and supposed star before having used him once.

      2. @Vero this is interesting. And genuine question, whose fault is that? The coach for bringing him on, or the player, who as you’ve mentioned, we know exactly how he defends?
I thought it would be the former. Ricci after all was available, right? And we’re down to 10 men. The most probable reasoning is that he brought on Leao to pull the defense away 🤷‍♂️. (And yes, it caused the rest of the team to work even harder in defence)

  2. Lmao Watching allegri scolding leao is like watching your best friend getting scolded by the teacher while holding your laugh

  3. And we had Leao defense attorneys trying to convince us that Leao wasn’t lazy as always and kept talking about one run which btw end up with Leao being easily dispossessed of the ball by Napoli’s worst defender.
If he doesn’t play for the team on the defensive end, he should sit on the bench, with Gimenez and Nkunku playing ahead of him.

  4. I have always said leao is lazy, he counts on his talent without hard work. Even when fully fit, he will always jog around doing nothing for bt he team. I don’t think he will change, n he has done the best he can. There’s nothing new to see from him.
I will gladly offload him any day, cos there are players of his caliber around

  5. To all you, are you saying you would have preferred not to have Leao on the team the year they won the scudetto? Because I dint think that would happened without him.

  6. Allegri tells a lot. Dont overreact to one video on Rafa. He has his flaws for certain but he provides a characteristic no one else possess in the squad. I was a vocal critic of his last season when Sergio and Paulo expected him to contribute more to counter press. In a 3-5-2 this is a system that won’t require as much counter pressing effort. If he can adapt to starting central drifting wide and vice vers this could be the thing that unlocks him. Best coaches/managers find ways to maximize player strengths and minimizetheir weaknesses. He could see Thuram level output in this role. But it will take patience.

  7. This was the wrong game to bring leao back into let’s be honest. First game back from injury, 10 men defending a win. Who expected leao to run his socks off and defend?

  8. Yes, where are the Leao defenders now who were saying that Leao was doing exactly what Allegri brought him on to do?
No Allegri was screaming at him, just like all of us who were watching his effort, walking around while others were giving everything. This is no longer acceptable. The team has proven they can win without him now with everyone else giving 100 %. Either Leao gets on board or he can catch a train out of here.
I blame Allegri more than anyone. Leao is the last person you should ever bring in when trying to protect a lead 10 v 11. That is the one mistake Allegri made in that match.

  9. I blame Allegri on this. He brought him on. Rafa is not the guy to bring on when you are down to 10 men trying to hold a lead. I’m fine if he starts alongside Pulisic to see how that will work but that substitution was a mistake by Allegri.

  10. Key board warriors always waiting to pounce on anything negative about Leao, but this is Allegri that screams and yell at will, Someone said they won without Leao, who did we win against? aside Napoli without there regulars?
we lost to lowly cremonese at home.
Haters of Leao, calm down he is still the star of this team, the one that can guaranteed winning convincingly! and Allegri knows that.

    1. Agree. Leao has done a lot for Milan and still does now. Most people always hate on leao even when he is one of the top scoring players in his team and they defend Gimenez despite the fact that he wastes chances with his horrible first touch, but they ignore that because Gimenez is running around like a chicken with his head cut off.

    2. Leao defense attorney Olumighty,
Did Allegri yel at anyone else for not doing their job?
Matter fact, there is another video of Allegri being enraged with Leao for making a stupid foul in a very dangerous position. Allegri probably kicked himself for putting that lazy player on the pitch.
      Keep glazing though.

  11. Honestly I watched the video where Allegri was yelling at Rafa. Thats just Allegri being extra tough on Rafa because Allegri sees the potential in him.

Mark my words. Leao is going to shine this season and we are going to at least be qualified for CL.

If not then I’ll eat crow

  12. Just cant wait to offload him next season so maybe his co*k sucker can also go along with him wherever he end up at.

  13. Milan fans and reporters really seriously don’t understand the real Christian Pulisic, and what an incredible talent he was already at just 22 years of age with Chelsea and what he has already accomplished.

Modric as his team mate giving him a pregame bit of cheer may seem like an awesome bit of news, unless you’ve been following Pulisic’s entire career and realize that Pulisic was heavily influential in Chelsea BEATING a Real Madrid in the 2021 Champions League semi-finals.

And yes, Modric played all ninety minutes in both legs.

First match, April 27, 2021 Pulisic takes a long lobbed through pass from Rudiger, dribbles around Courteois and shoots and scores (his shot bounced off Varane’s shoulder). Benzema would score on a ridiculous scissor kick shot from dead center in front of goal and the first match would be tied 1-1.

May 5, 2021, second match, Pulisic does not start.

Kai Havertz somehow is left uncovered by Real Madrid’s lax defense in front of goal and gets a great pass and lobs Courteois, but his shot bounces high up off the crossbar. Timo Werner follows up and scores a tap in header from 6 inches in front of goal (he probably would have missed otherwise).

Pulisic then comes in, and gets a great pass to the right of the goal. He fakes Courteois to the ground and then sends a great assist to Mason Mount, who taps in the decisive goal. Chelsea beats Real Madrid 2-0, and 3-1 on aggregate.

Modric wasn’t involved in any of those plays.
Chelsea would go on and win the Champions League final in 2021, beating Man City.

  14. Looks like the usual mob are out to insult a player who won them a Scudetto.

    This after the team won.

And people accuse me of moaning.

    As a rule:

    – moaning about players or coach is ok (more so if they’ve delivered a Scudetto);

    – moaning about the transfer market not ok – the transfer market is sacred.

  15. What the Leao fanboys don’t seem to understand, is that there is probably nobody here who doesn’t want Leao to succeed. Pulisic is my guy, but a great Leao would only make Pulisic better. It’s a matter of being realistic about who Leao is and if the squad is better with him or without him on the field. Unfortuately, it’s been a big question mark for a while.

  16. Talent is the most wasted of human attributes. Many have had talent, but wasted it and never reached their potential. Pogba comes to mind. The difference between Pulisic and Leao is that Puli maximizes his talent and works his ass off. In the Napoli game, when Puli was taken off, he was leading the team in ground covered while playing as a striker! On the other hand, Leao jogs around and wastes his talent, and has so for years! I will take technical grinders like Pulisic and Modric over those with great “potential” any day

  17. shameful leao bashing on here
he is not fully match fit from what we could see but i think allegri preferred his physicality and hoped we could get 1 counter attack for him to kill the game with his pace
with hindsight, maybe nkunku would have been the right option. also, bartesaghi for estupinan at HT
the 7 v leao situation would have been a shot on target at least if it was leao at full fitness

  18. Leao is so lazy. It’s frustrating. He is also insecure and overcompensate when he is embarrassed, like when he loses the ball.
