CM: Ancelotti phone call sparks new attempt from Milan to sign Asensio – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not giving up on the signing of Marco Asensio and they are continuing with their attempts, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reports that there was a wide gap between the first offer to the player and the request with regards to salary, but the Rossoneri are continuing to work on it and in recent days there was also a phone call from Paolo Maldini to Carlo Ancelotti to get approval to enter talks.

Real Madrid have offered Asensio an extension on his current deal which is expiring in 2023 but it is under the same conditions, including the same salary, while on the other hand Milan are negotiating with his new agent Jorge Mendes and could offer a salary not far from the €7m net per season requested by the Spaniard.

The current feeling is that if Asensio does not sign a renewal with Real Madrid, a proposal of around €30-35m euros could be enough to convince Los Blancos to sell. Milan are not giving up, and Paolo Maldini is at work.

  1. Could be a top signing, experienced at top level and still relatively young – salary seems fairly high though, and it doesn’t seem like he wants to leave really.

  2. Asensio actually is better than Zaniolo in term of quality and experience. Milan should have Asensio and De Ketelaere to boost their attach.
