ANSA: Investcorp takeover on hold until the end of the season – the reason

Another authoratative source are reporting that AC Milan are close to being bought by the Bahrain-based Investcorp fund.

On Friday the news of the concrete and real interest of Investcorp in the acquisition of Milan arrived. According to ANSA (via MilanNews), the negotiation is moving forward on the basis of a takeover worth around €1bn and due diligence is currently underway.

This process involved the checking of accounts and financial statements of the Rossoneri, between Elliott – the current owner – and the fund headed by the executive chairman Mohammed Al-Ardhi.

The president himself sent his congratulations to Milan on Twitter ‘for having returned to the top of the league’ and the report mentions that everyone involved in the deal are aware of what is at stake on the field.

There is a Scudetto to win and a Coppa Italia final to reach, so ANSA report that any closing ‘should not arrive before the end of the season’ purely because the squad are fighting on two fronts and any distractions would be counter-productive.

  1. Great decision. I don’t think the deal is off until the end of the season. The ANNOUNCEMENT is off, but the deal itself is clearly progressing.
I don’t like Countries buying football clubs but if this is the only way for s to become competitive on the market and build new private stadium, then it’s fine with me
