AS: Milan and Newcastle keen on Asensio as Ancelotti clarifies Real Madrid’s stance

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have once again been linked with a move for Marco Asensio as his future at Real Madrid continues to be uncertain, a report claims.

Diario AS (via MilanLive) in Spain are reporting that Asensio is very much a player that Paolo Maldini in particular would like to bring to the club, so much so that he continues to test the waters regarding a potential deal.

However, Newcastle United are also keen and – as seen with the Sven Botman saga – they have a much greater economic power than that of the Rossoneri, so they can be deemed a serious competitor even if their project will take time to yield results.

The source confirms that a renewal with Real Madrid is currently a very unlikely hypothesis, even if the player’s first will is to stay and fight for his spot, which his friendly performance against Barcelona today will have helped as he was very impressive.

At the end of the game, Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the future of Asensio: “At the moment we have no plans for Marco. It does not bother me. Of course, the competition in the dressing room has increased! But you have to ask him if it is better that he leave Real and the club if he will offer him a new contract.”

  1. Asensio could be a good fit for Milan. Man is just low on confidence because of the injury he had. Coming into the San Siro would be fresh start for him to continue his trophy-laden career as Milan is back on top of the Italian football again.
