CM: Asensio at a crossroads over future as Milan could top Real Madrid’s offer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are once again interested in trying to tempt Marco Asensio away from Real Madrid, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com begin an update on Asensio’s future by recalling his words to Bernabeu Digital from a few days ago: “I want to renew and stay in Madrid for a long time, but it’s not just up to me. We’re talking about it and we’ll see how things go.”

The forward’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire at the end of June and he has not yet found an agreement over a renewal with Los Blancos, who are proposing an increase in salary up to €4.8m net per season for a four-year extension, therefore until 2027.

Asensio has been left with the choice of firmly tying himself to the club where he has been since 2014, when he joined from Real Mallorca, or trying a new experience. There is no shortage of offers from the Premier League and other LaLiga clubs, but at the moment his priority remains the negotiation swith Real Madrid.

Milan remain ‘very interested’ in signing the 27-year-old in view of next season, and contacts with his agent Jorge Mendes are constant regarding several players. Asensio is very much liked by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara who could match or slightly exceed Real Madrid’s offer.

For the Rossoneri it remains a difficult but not impossible target, and in the event of a definitive break between the Spaniard and Real Madrid they will make a concrete attempt.

  1. Well, in the past 2 or 3 years we witnessed how Milan losing his important players mostly for free, and bring kind of players which doesn’t have any options but to play for Milan 🙂
So like in case of Leao, which agents got probably some of different options, Asensio will not join Milan, because his first option is Real.

  2. This could be possible but I think he’ll stay in Madrid or leave for England. Milan should offer more money, which is not happening.
