AC Milan remain interested in signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid but it will be a difficult operation to complete, a report claims.
As reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Asensio has a contract that expires in 2023 and therefore has a decision to make, but the least likely outcome at the moment is that he extends his deal with Real Madrid.
Milan have already received approval from Carlo Ancelotti to begin a negotiation after Paolo Maldini rang him directly, while Asensio’s agent if Jorge Mendes who the Rossoneri know well given the ongoing Rafael Leao and Renato Sanches talks.
There are obstacles that must be overcome however, with the main one being that the player is asking for €7m net per season from his prospective new employers which is considered too much by the Milan management.
There is also a lot of competition from the Premier League with Manchester United and Arsenal above all keen on the Spaniard, while they have the economic power to satisfy the player without any problem. They will not play in the Champions League next season though though, which is something Maldini can use.
