CM: Asensio’s future at Real Madrid at a crossroads – Milan could strike up a negotiation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could try and strike a cut-price deal for Marco Asensio during the talks they have with Real Madrid at the end of the season, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com reports that Asensio’s future is unclear as he is facing three options: staying at Real Madrid, finding another club in Spain or trying a new challenge abroad. He has a contract expiring in 2023 that has not yet been renewed, and Los Blancos have postponed any speech until the end of the season because they are aiming for multiple trophies.

Asensio for the moment is happy in the capital and feels the confidence of head coach Carlo Ancelotti, but at the end of the year he expects answers on what the plans are, especially if Kylian Mbappé and/or other big name forwards arrive.

He also wants to know what Florentino Perez’s offer will be, aiming for guarantees regarding his playing time and also his salary, which is currently €7m net per season. If he rejects the renewal offer, Real Madrid will put him up for sale to make money.

Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on the 26-year-old but so are Milan, who have had his name on their wish list for some time. It cannot be excluded that in the next few meetings between Maldini and the Madrid management to discuss Brahim Diaz, the name of Asensio may come up.

His trip to Milan with his girlfriend Sandra Garal in the last few months may become something more than a simple escape, the report concludes.
