GdS: Atletico Madrid striker available for €15-20m could solve Milan’s attacking issues

AC Milan are on the hunt for a new striker ahead of the summer and they could move for one who knows Serie A well, a report claims.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about the idea of Alvaro Morata arriving to fix the centre-forward woes for the Rossoneri. The Spain international has a contract expiring in 2024 with Atletico Madrid and could therefore leave this summer.

As mentioned, Morata knows the Italian league very well having been at Juventus and he is a forward who has regularly hit double figures in goals since his breakout in the 2014-15 season.

In the summer Milan will certainly have to do something to strengthen their attack, given Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract is about to expire, while Olivier Giroud should renew for another year but there are doubts about Divock Origi and Ante Rebic.

Due to his contract situation it is not an operation that seems out of Milan’s reach either, given Atletico Madrid could not ask for more than €15-20m to sell. If anything, the most delicate issue is his salary given that at Juve he earned €5m net per season.

In the past Morata was a target for the Chinese ownership in 2016 before André Silva and Nikola Kalinic arrived, while since Memphis Depay joined Atleti it seems Morata no longer has a guaranteed starting spot.

    1. Exactly! If the guy can’t score 20 goals with a service such as that how could he score more than 1-2 goals per season in Milan?
