CM: Full-back fails to convince Pioli as idea of summer sale gathers steam

By Oliver Fisher -

Fode Ballo-Toure may have only arrived at AC Milan last summer but he could leave after one season, according to a report.

The full-back department was recently bolstered by the renewal of Theo Hernandez which is a good starting point, but Maldini and Massara have to make important decisions also at the exit front. Ballo-Touré simply has not convinced Pioli and could soon say goodbye to Milan, as we reported recently.

According to Calciomercato.com, a big sign regarding Ballo-Toure’s standing in Pioli’s hierarchy came during the win against Empoli last Saturday. Despite Theo Hernandez’s absence due to suspension, Pioli preferred to move Florenzi to the left than to play a natural left-back.

That seems to point towards one thing: the very strong suggestion that the Senegalese defender could be allowed to leave in the summer, which would be less than 12 months after his arrival from Ligue 1 club Monaco.

  1. Signed for £4.5M, transfermarket says his value has gone up to £5.85M, can only be due to who owns him now rather than performances. He has 3 years left on his contract, and i doubt many clubs want to sign him. He’ll only leave if we drop his price right down, or if he is unhappy about never playing and wants to leave.

  2. Yeah Pioli has had zero confidence in Ballo Toure & Bakayoko all season long (Maldini & Co really failed their coach with these 2 + Messias in the summer mercato), and he has just about lost all confidence in Brahim Diaz. He prefers to play Kessie a defensive midfielder(with huge accent on DEFENSIVE) instead of Brahim. and based on the latest projected line ups even Krunic is higher in the pecking order than Brahim. So glad he came back on loan with option and not obligation to buy.
