Barcelona are still looking at targets to reinforce their centre-back department and have cast their eyes on Alessio Romagnoli, a report claims.
Spanish source Fichajes writes that the Catalan giants have found themselves reliant on an ageing Gerard Piqué and the young Erik Garcia to hold their defence together while Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti continue to feature despite the fact they are not in the plans of Dutch coach Ronald Koeman.
Their director Mateu Alemany has put forward the name of Alessio Romagnoli as a target who ‘stands out above the rest’. His contract expires on June 30 and therefore he will be able to negotiate with Barca from January 1 to potentially confirm his arrival at the Camp Nou ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The report adds that Romagnoli is considering the idea of trying a new adventure away from San Siro, taking advantage of the fact that several clubs are interested in acquiring him.
