Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig has admitted that he had offers from the table from AC Milan and Chelsea but instead has ended up with Los Angeles Galaxy.
As reported by Sport, the Dongcast podcast has published some leaked audio during which the midfielder spoke about his situation. In these clips, he reveals that he received offers from Chelsea and Milan, but now the 22-year-old will move across the Atlantic Ocean to try Major League Soccer.
The clips are purported to have come from a few months ago and that lines up with some reports from earlier in the year suggesting that Milan were keen on signing him.
For example, Calciomercato.com stated that the 22-year-old midfielder is not a big part of Xavi’s plans as he seems to prefer other options and that Milan were among the clubs that ‘approached’ Puig hoping to explore a potential deal. However, a future in America beckons instead.
What a waste! He’s a big talent, but I think the big European clubs probably felt he was too small.
You don’t need any other proof that things are going to hell in football and in life in general when a talented player in his early 20s decides to, effectively, retire early and play for money.
