It felt like the sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City was the only painful sacrifice needed this summer to try balance the books, given there will be no European football in 2025-26. However, a number of other key players continue to be linked with moves, including and above all Leao.

Just when it seemed as though Bayern had given up and turned to Nico Williams of Athletic Club, reports emerged earlier in the week suggesting that they are in fact still eyeing the Portuguese.

Bayern still considering Leao

The latest update from Fabrizio Romano is as follows: “Bayern have discussed Rafael Leão again internally as winger option this week. No proposal or negotiations advancing yet.

“Bayern will wait for Nico Williams to see if the deal gets done with Barcelona… and then will re-assess options, including Leão, Barcola and more.”

In other words, we must wait to see what happens with the rest of the left-winger carousel before the Bundesliga champions potentially make a firm move. However, given the reports of Massimiliano Allegri being so keen to keep Leao, it would surely have to be an astronomical figure to sell.
