Marseille have decided not to buy Ismael Bennacer permanently from AC Milan, and the midfielder might have the chance to stay in Serie A.
The decision was made to allow Bennacer to join Marseille on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy right at the end of the winter transfer window. However, he struggled to play regularly and thus there have been strong doubts about the buy-out.
Bennacer in Fiorentina’s sights
The French club, according to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com) and Corriere dello Sport, are not willing to pay the €12m to make the move permanent. This opens up new scenarios, given that Milan will get back full control of the player once the option expires.
Fiorentina will soon welcome back Stefano Pioli as their head coach and they are working to construct a squad that reflects his needs. Among the profiles that may interest the coach is Bennacer, who was a key player under him during his half-decade at Milan.

Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare will be taking over the Bennacer issue in the coming days. Marseille have not completely cut Bennacer out of their plans, but they are inclined to take him on loan again.
The Rossoneri will evaluate the situation, speaking with both the boy and Allegri to understand their intentions for next season. The idea would be to sell him outright, but the loan option is not to be ruled out.
I’d say he’d be a good alternative with Modrić as they’re both technically good on the ball with vision. But I’m not confident they’re capable to put together 38 matches. Combined.
He is good support, he is also good 1st choice in his healthy days, however he severed his relationship with the management and also with the fans.
So, I highly doubt he will play for us anymore, and probably deservedly so. Instead of providing support in a key moment of the season, just after we waited for him for 2 years to get out of the infirmary, he forced us to look for last day solutions.
Let’s give him to Fio+cash and get camuzzo
He forced his way out. Doubt they keep him.
If u were in his shoes
U won’t u do the same?
Too many injuries. Let him go.
