It seemed as though Ismael Bennacer’s time at AC Milan was over, but now the possibility of him returning is gaining momentum.
Calciomercato.com begin a report by citing yesterday’s story from L’Equipe, which claimed that Olympique Marseille still have to resolve some doubts about Bennacer and are hesitating about making a decision on his permanent signing.
Above all there are two issues: the high salary that the Algerian midfielder earns and his physical condition. Marseille would consider the possibility of paying a salary of this size, but only with the absolute certainty that Bennacer is an essential starter for them, which he is not.
Bennacer set for Milan return?
The former Empoli man could, therefore, could return to Milan. The Rossoneri accepted an offer from Marseille in the winter window which included a €1m paid loan until June, with a buy-out set at €12m plus €3m in potential bonuses.
The directors had decided to let Bennacer go once he returned from the muscle injury to his calf. The physical guarantees were minimal in their eyes, and the Ligue 1 solution became ideal for all parties involved.
However, the end to the season that he had and Marseille’s doubts lead to reconsidering the option of seeing Bennacer back at Milanello during the summer training camp. There will certainly be some evaluations, while waiting to understand what Marseille will choose to do.
