AC Milan are back in action on Sunday at the Stadio via Del Mare against Lecce, and Sergio Conceicao is expected to change up the team.
According to MilanNews, Conceiçao took advantage of his first ‘long’ week as Milan coach to work with the squad on the practice field and try to correct various aspects of the performances that have in recent games led to a near vertical decline.
The Portuguese coach today carried out some tests in training ahead of the away match in Lecce with many changes compared to the team’s recent outings. For example, Davide Bartesaghi was used in defence, plus Warren Bondo in midfield.
Tammy Abraham was tested as the striker in a 4-2-3-1 with Riccardo Sottil and Alex Jimenez as wingers behind him. Tomorrow will be another important day in determining what side he will use, but it seems to be a confirmation of the reports circulating.
What reports are those exactly? Well, La Gazzetta dello Sport stated yesterday that Conceicao plans to rely on those who have a greater desire to win and to prove themselves. In essence, he is looking for players who will apply themselves fully in both phases, running and doing importance defensive work.

This is currently our strongest line up. But we will never see Fofana-Bondo duo cause even after spending so much money there, this team still lack cover for either of these two. Musah and RLC are no pivots.
Reijnders is being wasted playing so deep and he offers close to nothing in defensive phase. He’s either a mezz’ala or an advanced playmaker.
And finally, Gimenez needs service ffs. With football this team plays, any striker would struggle.
The team plays better with Abraham up front. Gimenez needs service and is useless without it. Abraham needs service too, but can set others up and help out in the defensive phase. This suits the team because there are numerous scoring threats in the front line.
With saying that, we should implement a 2 striker formation then. Gimenez or jovic with the addition of an Abraham or camarda beside either
We don’t know what Bondo is yet. Musah and Fofana sure as Sh!t can’t hold a midfield together.
I fully agree. Fofana is also not a pivot in my opinion, he is too vertical and too inacurrate with the ball. Bondo we have to see him, but in paper he his a better fit. But we need at least another midfield if not two next summer.
Rovella from Lazio or De Jong from Barca would be my dream.

I don’t seem to understand why conceicao is so insistent on 4231 whereas a 343 will be far more suitable for the team. No matter the man management method he employs,if the players are not utilized properly,we will continue to struggle.
