AC Milan have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Lille defender Sven Botman as a competitor has seemingly been ruled out of the running.
Calciomercato.it recently reported that scout leader Geoffrey Moncada is scouring the French market for possible reinforcements, and that Botman is one of a seven-man list of players that has caught his eye.
PianetaMilan then reported Milan scouts have indeed put Botman’s name down in their notebook as the 20-year-old has stood out in the Europa League, particularly in the two games against Milan, with a €30m asking price set by Lille and with Liverpool keen.
According to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo on Twitter, Jurgen Klopp’s side are not interested in signing Botman despite being linked by a number of different sources.
Pearce adds that there have been ‘no talks’ over a deal for the 20-year-old and that Liverpool not considering a move for him. He claims that ‘someone is trying to drive up the price/interest’ in the Lille defender rather than there being anything concrete.
