Sky: Lille slap asking price of over €70m on Milan and Newcastle’s No.1 target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will have to pay an astronomical fee if they want to sign Sven Botman from Lille this month, according to a report.

In a report on their live transfer centre, Sky Sports confirm that Botman is Newcastle’s number one target for January but Lille do not want to sell their best players if they can avoid it this month, because they are still in the Champions League and they want to secure a domestic finish that allows them to return next season too.

In addition, the Dutch international has got a contract at Lille that runs until the summer of 2025. The source claims that if Lille were to even consider selling Botman in this window, then they would be looking for a price in excess of £60m, which is around €71.6m.

Numerous sources have claimed that Botman is Milan’s number one target for the January window, but if that asking price is true then it certainly seems a pipe dream.

  1. Look ! nufc wil no doubt become a target for not only those minor clubs who need the dosh , but also those so called big side in both Spain and Italy, also falling short to meet their requirements, being every club for the most part need seasonal replacements and these guys have a lotta ice to ask certain outrageous prices.
Tell em to go pound sand !

  2. Not long ago, when the press started talking about Milan’s and Dortmund’s interest in Ikone, Lille was said to be expecting 35-40M to let him go. Now, he leaves for Fiorentina for 15M. Botman is very young and he’s not going anywhere for 70M, lol. Lille is bluffing because they’re sniffing Newcastle’s interest and Botman doesn’t want to go a championship team; but in the end they need money more than we need Botman. Patience can pay off on this one.
