GdS: Botman rejects Newcastle again and pushes Lille to accept Milan’s €30m bid

By Oliver Fisher -

Sven Botman has once again rejected the advances of Newcastle United as he has his heart set on a move to AC Milan, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) makes the stance of the parties very clear. Both Milan and Newcastle strongly want Botman but they player only wants the Rossoneri, while Lille are instead pushing to make him accept the proposal of the Premier League club.

Milan’s offer of €30m seemed to be enough for Lille, but the emergence of Newcastle and other English clubs has changed their stance and now they are aiming to collect as much as possible from the sale of the Dutchman.

Botman does not hear about the interest of other teams and only wants the Rossoneri, so much so that he is scuppering the deal between Lille and Newcastle, who have given an ultimatum to the 22-year-old threatening to walk away from the deal.

The former Ajax man is digging his heels in and hopes that the Ligue 1 club will soon be convinced to let him go to Milan. Paolo Maldini is convinced that he can be the present and the future of the Rossoneri defence together with Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, so now we see who cracks first.

  1. Good news. I hope Milan can up their offer so dat we don’t lose out on another good player, who has Milan in his heart, as we often do just bcos of a few extra $

    1. it’s difficult to reject but lille have to respect his wish, just like barella, he said inter or no transfer cagliari have no choice than to accept

    2. Lille of course want to take the higher Newcastle offer; but if the player is basically saying he will refuse to play for Newcastle (or at the very least, it is clear he will be unhappy), then Newcastle may not want an unhappy player or player who may refuse to play. So Lille may be forced by Botman to accept Milan’s lower offer.

    3. The one that will sign the contract is the player, so even if the club accept the bid, if the player don’t want to go then it won’t happen.

  2. one important thing is that you cant make a deal unless player agrees to personal terms with the club so even if someone gives 100 mil to lille, you cant go through with it, if player is not interested.

  3. Regarding other possible deals, it seems that Sassuolo is 50 M for Scamacca… Well, I guess that’s some pretty unrealistic sum, and I’m glad that apparently Milan were put off by this.

  4. In my view we should focus on Origi (which is already a done deal), Renato Sanches, CDK and, if possible, Botman or Bremer; if not, some young promising CB unveiled by our scouts will do. Considering that Adli and Pobega are already ours, I guess we’ll be set.
