Botman confirms desire to take a ‘step forward’ and admits: “Milan and Newcastle are interested”

By Oliver Fisher -

Sven Botman has confirmed that he believes he has played his last game for Lille and confirmed that AC Milan are among the teams interested.

The Rossoneri’s summer mercato risks being slowed down by the change in ownership from Elliott Management to RedBird capital and one of the names that could be affected by this situation is that of Botman.

The hope is that now RedBird have taken charge, it will be possible to close the operation, but in the meantime clubs like Newcastle United continue to be linked with a potential hijack of the operation that Paolo Maldini and co. have set up.

Botman was asked about his future during an interview with Algemeen Dagblad and seemingly confirmed his desire to take a step forward in his career, admitting there are two clubs who want him.

“What if the last league match was also my last match with Lille? I don’t know, but I think so. The intention is to take a step forward. I hope the transfer is completed soon, preferably in time for the preseason preparations,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Milan and Newcastle are interested, but I can’t and I don’t want more. What I want is to step forward and play a good competition, I can’t wait. But it’s not just the club or the competition that decides, I have to have very good feelings about it too.”
