During the pre-season, Suso has been deployed in a new position by manager Giampaolo, as the latter’s system doesn’t have any use for wingers.
Surprisingly, the Spaniard has done really well, gaining the confidence of the manager. In fact, after initially being linked with a summer move, the pre-season changed the situation internally.
Despite this, former Rossoneri manager Fabio Capello has expressed doubts about Suso’s new position, speaking in an interview with Quotidiano Sportivo: “For me, he is a winger. I don’t know if he can become a playmaker”.
So far so good, though. Milan will kick off their season on Sunday, taking on Udinese away from home. Suso is expected to start behind the striker as usual, but as Capello said, it’s still too early to judge his capability in the trequartista role.
