MN: Captain’s armband will officially change hands after Romangoli’s exit – the choices

AC Milan will formally appoint a new captain given that Alessio Romagnoli is set to officially depart the club at the end of the month.

MilanNews confirms that the farewell of Romagnoli – whose contract at Milan expires soon with no sign of a renewal – is increasingly probable. In addition to leaving a void in the defensive department that must be filled with a new signing, he will also bequeath the captain’s armband that he has had for four seasons.

His time at Milan ended in the best possible way as he hoisted the Scudetto trophy into the air after the 3-0 win over Sassuolo to clinch a 19th league title, but after seven years with the Rossoneri that looks set to be his last memory on the field.

The captaincy should now pass to Davide Calabria who has already had that role on several occasions during the last season, and he is an obvious choice given he made his debut eight years ago and came through the youth academy.

The vice captain will be Theo Hernandez as he too, over the last few months, has already had the honour of wearing the armband.
