AC Milan winger Samu Castillejo celebrated his 26th birthday with three points as the Rossoneri beat Cagliari 2-0 last night in Sardinia.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace for Stefano Pioli’s side who ended up comfortable winners despite numerous selection problems, restoring their lead atop the Serie A table to three points once again.
Castillejo spoke to the microphones of Milan TV after the game, with his comments transcribed by Samu Castillejo and translated below.
“There is no better gift than these three points. Ibrahimovic’s return and his goals were very important and it was important to win,” he said.
“Our spirit and our way of playing is leading us to achieve these results. We must not give up and we must continue like this because it is wonderful to win.”
On the return of Ibrahimovic: “He is a player who wants to help the team a lot, who sacrifices himself and who wants to play. Now that the injury is over he is better and we are happy for him.”
