CF: How much Milan and other Serie A clubs earned from TV rights in 2022-23

The amount of TV revenue that each Serie A team received for the 2022-23 season has been revealed, according to a report.

As Calcio e Finanza reports, the final table has an impact not only from a sporting point of view, but also from an economic point of view as the distribution of television rights money that Lega Serie A hands out to the 20 clubs depends on the final position.

The division of income from TV rights is carried out on the basis of precise criteria imposed by the Melandri Law, which means that 50% is split equally but then the remaining 50% is further divided up.

Of that, 20% is based on catchment area (of which 8% based on Auditel certified television audience and 12% based on paying viewers) and 30% is based on sporting results.

That 30% is made up of 12% based on league finish, 3% on points for the current season, 10% based on results achieved in the last five seasons and 5% based on the ranking formed taking into account of results achieved at national and international level from the 1946-47 season onwards.

Overall, Serie A will distribute around €1.018bn net to the clubs, a figure which does not include the value of the parachute and mutual payments to the lower leagues.

  1. How do we stand compared to England, Spain, Germany and France?
Does anyone has a list or a link where we could see those results?

    1. In England, clubs get more. But top club in PL gets around 100M more than Milan got this season and bottom club gets maybe 20M€ more than Milan did this year. City got about 100M more, Real and Barcelona also around that and most other clubs less than what Milan gets. In Germany Bayern receives at least 10M€ less than Milan, so does everyone else and in France PSG received less than Milan, about 20M€ less, and others get peanuts mostly. When you compare Milan to other places, only PL clubs receive more and Madrid and Barcelona. Most of these clubs that receive much less and are much less attractive to sponsors can still somehow spend more and pay their players more. This is all approximate, but it is +-20M.
