C&F: Milan set for positive balance sheet thanks to Champions League exploits

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are set to turn a profit for the 2022/23 season thanks to the run to the semi-finals of the Champions League, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calcio e Finanza, the Rossoneri could be recording a profit of €13 million for the 2022/23 season, further showing how the fortunes of the club off of the pitch are improving.

For context, Milan recorded a loss of over €66m for the 2021/22 season, despite winning the Serie A title in that campaign.

Milan have not ended a season with a profit since 2006, and there have been some very dark financial times in that period. The club is hardly now flush with cash, but things are improving.

The turnover should be around €375m, a €77m increase on last season. The Champions League run to the semi-finals was the driving force, with Milan set to have made €160m overall from their involvement. Costs for the season are expected to be just over €350m.

  1. Yet some people here still believe all the UCL prize money was “extra” (unbudgeted) and should have been used on transfers.

      1. Indeed. Claiming the management/owners are “pathetic” and how “embarrasing” Milan are. etc.

Yeah. All the Tonali-money went into Cardinale’s pockets so he could buy an F1-team. LOL. 😀 😀

        1. I was arguing with someone who said signing too many players was disruptive (Maldini’s Heir), except when Maldini did it genius moves.

I kid you not. If management signed like two players, this same person would be screaming they didn’t do enough lol.

          1. Yeah, I’ve noticed… 😀 😀 😀

“I kid you not. If management signed like two players, this same person would be screaming they didn’t do enough lol.”

Of the whining would never end if that were the case!!

But hey, based on rumors Milan might still get 2-3 new players. So the whining is far from over… 😀

Still amazes me how people complain about our ownership. *Not had a profit since 2006.* Money doesn’t grow on trees and banks don’t loan to those who can’t pay it back. Now we not only had a 107m summer spend so far to improve the squad in almost every area, but we are also in the black financially for the first time in 17 years. Well done.

    1. Credit goes to Elliot & Gazidis for fixing the financial troubles. Maldini, Massara & Pioli also deserve some recognition as well for building a competitive team with tight budget.

  3. So this is why it was critical to invest in the team, improve depth and so forth so we can do well in the Champions League again.

And somebody claimed signing all these players were disruptive. I think not.

  4. Milam only get 13m profit but they assign 35-40m initial transfer budget. That means they do invest on the market.
