MN: Probable Chelsea XI to face Milan – Potter pondering three-man defence

By Euan Burns -

Chelsea boss Graham Potter is pondering a three-player defence for the match against AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News this evening, the former Brighton and Hove Albion coach may make a change of formation as he continues to try and work out how he wants his Chelsea team to play.

The switch to a back three would mean that Wesley Fofana, Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella all play at the back, flanked by Reece James on the right and Ben Chilwell on the left.

Former Inter player Matteo Kovacic would partner Jorginho in the middle of the pitch, and then there would be a front three of Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang, and Raheem Sterling.

Milan come into the game looking very depleted in numbers given the injury crisis that Stefano Pioli already had on his hands before the Empoli match.
