Chelsea do not have a buy-back clause inserted in the deal that saw Fikayo Tomori join AC Milan last summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Tomori joined Milan on an initial loan deal during the 2021 winter transfer window and he impressed so much that the Rossoneri exercised their option to make it permanent for a fee close to €30m, and now he has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A.

Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside speaks to some bad business from the old Chelsea board because although there is a buy-back on Tammy Abraham, there is no such clause in Tomori’s contract.
“As I mentioned recently, Chelsea have a buy-back clause for Tammy Abraham, but what about another of their former players who is performing so well in Italy right now?” Romano said.
“Unfortunately, Chelsea fans, there’s no buy-back clause included in the Fikayo Tomori deal. Of course, it wasn’t the current board that sanctioned this deal, and I think people from the old board should regret the decision of selling Tomori on loan with buy option.
“He’s an amazing player, so impressive with Milan, and I’m sure he’ll be great for many years to come.”
Tomori will get another opportunity to show his old club that they made a mistake in letting him go when Milan welcome Chelsea to the San Siro tonight, but the Englishman will have to put in a better showing than in the first fixture last week.

Chelsea just spent 80 mil on Fofana and 45 on Koulibaly.
If they wanted Tomori, buy back clause or not, they could have bought him back from Milan. Sold him for 30, could have bought him back for around 50m. Instead they chose to spend that money on 31 year old Koulibaly.
No one at Chelsea is thinking about Tomori.
He is not highly rated outside of serie A . Same goes for Abraham, who BTW has lost his starting spot at Roma.
Romano wants to just hype up EPL and ex EPL players .
And Tomori definitely showed them in the 1st game that Chelsea didn’t make a mistake by selling him

If Chelsea really want to keep Tomori they would have. Clearly he’s not the upper echelon but he is good enough for Mila
Tomori & Theo’s deals make that buy-back clause a trend now.
Look at Brahim Diaz’ buy clause : Real Madrid have buy buck only at 28M euros. They absolutely don’t want to be stolen again like Theo’s deal.
