Samuel Chukwueze was the first AC Milan player to take the field with his national team today, and he scored off the bench for Nigeria against Rwanda.
It was a bittersweet afternoon for the winger, who started on the bench for his country and then was brought on in the World Cup Qualifier at the start of the second half. Just 20 minutes later he gave his team the lead with a great solo goal, beating a couple of players and finishing well.
The evening then took an unexpected turn for the Super Eagles, who conceded in the 72nd and 75th minutes to Rwanda, who scored with Mutsinzi and Nshuti. Nonetheless, they finish in first place in this first phase of qualification, while it is a confidence boost for Chukwueze.

Nice one, albeit the defence is truly lower leveled than our Serie A opponents.
But hopefully this will give him confidence boost, he need it, and we need all our players to their peak.
He hasn’t scored against any Serie A club before? He has never dribble pass any Italian defender before , is that what you mean?
He means it’s very rare when he does. Chuk has been a disappointment so far.
?
I don’t get why you replied so defensively against my comment.
“Nice one, albeit the defence is truly lower leveled than our Serie A opponents.” –> I complimented his effort here, even if the opponent is not Serie A level. And thats a fact, look at how they defend against him. Look at their net worth.
“But hopefully this will give him confidence boost, he need it, and we need all our players to their peak.” –> I wish him the best for the next matches. He has scored against serie A team before – but 1 goal and 1 assist from 13 matches this season is not exactly giving confidence for an attacking player. Out of attacking player with over 500 minutes this season, he is one with lowest goal contribution and less visible performance on the pitch. I wish he to improve on that, he need it – we need him to improve.
Tell me whats wrong from my comment.
I was about to say that Rwanda’s international team probably was at the level of a Serie C team but chose to check their team valuation on transfermarkt and its €5.48m so not completely wrong there 😀 but yeah lets hope it help his confidence.
Exactly my point Bern, thanks for looking at Rwanda valuation xD
It’s important to note that despite Chuk’s goal, the #36 FIFA ranked Nigeria managed to somehow LOSE this match to the #126 FIFA ranked Rwanda team 1-2.
Nigeria had quite the powerhouse team, with Lookman and Osimhen. None of them scored another goal.
This was a qualification match for AFCON 2024, and was a meaningless game for Nigeria, as they had already qualified, and Rwanda, despite the shock win, still missed out on qualification

Nice. He’s finally scoring with his weak foot, oh wait
