CM: Head coach Pioli gives Milan squad extended rest after Bologna win

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has given his players an extended rest after they ran out 3-2 winners against Bologna on Sunday night.

The Rossoneri won a thriller at the Stadio dall’Ara to move into the top half of the table. Krzysztof Piatek gave the Rossoneri the lead from the penalty spot before Theo Hernandez joined him on four goals for the season, but he then scored an own-goal to halve the lead.

Giacomo Bonaventura netted another gorgeous goal to pad the lead once again before Nicola Sansone’s penalty made it a nervy conclusion for Milan, who missed several chances on the break.

The result moves the Diavolo up into 10th above Torino and eight points away from the European spots, with home games against Sassuolo and Atalanta up next.

In light of Sunday’s upcoming game, Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo is reporting that Pioli has given the squad two days of rest before they resume training as opposed to the usual one. They will return to Milanello on Wednesday, as a result.
